Below are highlights from this month’s meeting of the Danawoods HOA Landscape Committee (DWLC). We extend our thanks to Cindy Leach, HOA Board member, and liaison to the Landscape Committee, for her report, and to all the DWLC members for their service and dedication to Danawoods.

Notes: A representative from Peterson Landscape was present to answer questions and concerns. He stated that limbs and debris will only be dragged through common areas to the curb, rather than across homeowner property.

Quotes: The DWLC approved quotes to replace Acacia trees with Rhus lanceas and plant some Lowboy Acacia shrubs to replace Tecomaria on the East slope above the City park. Also approved were quotes to install more Vinca along Danawoods Drive and 5 new trees in various common areas. The DWLC also re-activated the quote for the Danapalm tot lot renovation. All quotes have been sent to the Board for approval.

The committee approved a spring mix of flowers for the next color corner change-out. The Camelia planter near the front entrance will be mulched; dead plants will be replaced. Weeds will be sprayed at the fences around the Danapalm tot lot.

The next meeting of the DWLC will be Tuesday, February 10th, 6pm.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Bill Inglis, the President of the Danawoods Board of Directors (BOD). Here are a few highlights of our conversation:

Q:	What is the most pressing issue for the HOA in the year ahead?
A:	Danawoods is in great shape. The BOD is committed to keeping HOA dues low. But there are significant expenses associated with the replacement of the stairwell on the east side of Danawoods park. The consequence of these costs is a postponement of some work on Danawoods trees until next year.

Q:	What can residents do to make Danawoods, a great community, even better?
A:	Show up to our monthly HOA meetings! The next meeting is Wed., Oct. 15th, at 6 pm.

Q:	Are there any other projects or improvements upcoming in the neighborhood?
A:	The Tower in the pool complex was just painted, and some of the straps in the lawn chairs have been replaced. Recent high winds knocked down some trees which required prompt action.
