Love Where You Live!

February 21, 2009

My signature tag line is “Love where you live…” What do I mean by that?

I wake up each morning unemployed.
That’s what running a small business is all about, right? Next, I begin each “work” day by asking people if they want to move, or to buy or sell real estate. What I do may works for me…knocking on hundred of doors, submitting and responding to ads, calling past clients, friends and acquaintances, and maintaining great real estate websites.

Many tell me they would never move because they love where they live! Admittedly, we live in a phenomenal part of the world, and I am one who really cannot imagine moving any time soon.

Unfortunately, others among us are truly facing unemployment. Our economy is leading many, even those who love their homes and neighbors, to consider selling their homes. Please call me for a confidential consultation. I talked two families OUT of moving last week! Sometimes, you just need to hear another opinion or to learn that there may be other options.

On the other hand, if you would love to live somewhere new…please call me! Now is a phenomenal time to find the home that you will love at a price that you will also love!

It’s Going to Be a Great New Year!

January 20, 2009

The nation’s retailers have just reported slow holiday sales. It seems that we have been saving rather than spending.

Most economists are calling this bad news. They tell us our economy is based on consumption, and that we should spend, spend, spend, not save.

Does that sound right to you? Frankly, I like the idea of saving. Saving for college, for necessities, for vacations, for retirement, and yes, for a downpayment on a home, or for that first investment property. Saving is good!

Now that we’re past the normally slow holiday real estate season, there are great after-Christmas sales to be found in Orange County real estate! If you have good credit, and have saved a downpayment, now is a great time to to fulfill that dream of homeownership, or to move up to your dream home!

Inventory is low – we’re selling homes! We are working with buyers interested in Danawoods, but there are only two homes in the MLS! We have just received multiple offers on our listing in Sea Canyon (near Dana Hills H.S.), and expect that it will close escrow in February. Thinking of making a move? Call us today – we’ll make it happen!

Giving Thanks After Thanksgiving

December 3, 2008

Has it become more difficult to fund your kids’ educational and extra curricular activities during these recessionary times? Do you feel helpless when friends or family are facing job losses or foreclosure? Let’s tie those two problems together and tailor a win-win solution!

Please refer us to your friends or family in need of selling. Not only will we consult with and assist them when and where needed, but should your referral end up as a closed escrow, we will also make a donation in your name to the team, charity, or school of your choice.

While on the subject of helping others…we would like to mention two charities this month:

St Edward the Confessor, Dana Point, Food Pantry, provides food to the homeless and working poor each week. Their pantry is in need of canned goods, especially those that do not require a can opener. Contact: Mary Bauer, or deliver to St. Edward Church.
Contact Info: 949.496.1572, 33926 Calle la Primavera, Dana Point
9:30am – 3:30pm Monday & Wednesdays, 9:30am – 12:30pm Friday

Loaves and Fishes, Santa Ana, a soup kitchen serving 800 homeless and working poor each Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Santa Ana. They are in need of hot cocoa (large bulk size from Smart & Final), boxes of cereal, peanut butter, $5 gift cards for Burger King, adult new socks, gently worn jackets, and new or like-new blankets.
Contact Info: 714.542.4411, Maria Dzida, Director, 727 Minter St., Santa Ana

If you have a favorite charity, let us know via email. We would be glad to mention it here in the future.

Celebrating Veterans’ Day

November 11, 2008

The older I get…the greater the impact has been on me of the value of the men and women who serve and have served our country.

Maybe this is because I have met so many military families and veterans over our many years as a Realtor, many of whom have entrusted us with their real estate business. We get to know them and hear their stories…we get to know their families.

Veterans live on our street, go to our church and teach our children. Their wisdom and integrity are undeniable. Their contribution to our society and culture are critical. I never quite know what to say to veterans on this day. “Thank you for serving our country” seems terribly inadequate for their service and sacrifice.

My nephew, Chris Saenz will be starting basic training in the Navy tomorrow. This native Californian will get to experience Chicago and the Great Lakes first hand! Please keep him in your prayers as well as those who are currently serving our country. To all the veterans and military families in our neighborhood…a great big thank you from The Roknich Family!

It’s Fall, Y’All

October 17, 2008

One of my closest friends moved to Texas a few years back. And my sister, Rose, moved there some years ago with her family. So thanks to them, I’ve begun to speak with a drawl, y’all.

Okay, not so much! But fall, make that autumn, is upon us, and with it brings cooler temperatures, lots of holiday happenings and a national election.

The real estate market has just entered a new season as well. In the past few days, we have begun to hear anecdotal evidence of improvement in our local real estate market. First time buyers are beginning to take advantage of prices far lower than any time in recent years.

Are we at the bottom? Sorry, I broke my crystal ball when I began my real estate career. But we’re a lot closer to the bottom than the top. Now might be the right time for you. Give us a call, y’all!

Golf Tournament & Casino Night
Gasoline is pricey – why drive to Vegas when Casino Night is right here? JSerra Catholic High School, in San Juan Capistrano, is holding two fund-raisers to benefit its sports teams. The Golf Tournament is scheduled for November 7th at Arroyo Trabuco in Mission Viejo – a beautiful course. And the gift bags are incredible! The Casino Night is the following evening, November 8th, and dinner is included – tickets are only $50 each including gambling. Call me at (949) 240-5892 for info, or send us an email.

The Financial Capital of the World

September 28, 2008

That title used to belong to New York City. But now it appears as though all eyes are on Washington, D.C.

Officials, elected and otherwise, of our Federal Reserve Bank, and of our Federal Government, are convening daily to devise strategies to bail out our ailing financial institutions.

It’s amazing to see the list of companies in trouble or shut down. Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, AIG, Countrywide, and Washington Mutual are among the largest and best known companies that have ceased to exist in their previous form, thanks to the crushing effect of bank foreclosures nationwide, and to the high-risk financial shenanigans played by these “titans” of Wall Street

How does all this affect Danawoods? Actually, our neighborhood is holding up notably well! Sure we have had a short payoff or two in the couple years. And no, Danawoods is not an island – prices have fallen here from the peak of the market. But Danawoods has enjoyed a relatively low turnover in this market cycle, and as a consequence, it is among the most stable neighborhoods in Dana Point!

It’s a buyer’s market, for sure. But if you need to sell a home, in Danawoods, or elsewhere, call us. We’ve been through market cycles like this one before. We know how to maximize your equity through proven strategies designed for today’s challenging real estate market.

News Flash – Market Hits Bottom!

September 19, 2008

Did that get your attention? But does anyone really know for sure when any market tops or bottoms, especially our finicky real estate market? Of course not…but…check our Market Update column this week for more information on late-breaking news and its effect on our Orange County real estate market.

The California Department of Real Estate (DRE) reports that over 40% of agents are not renewing their licenses! You may have had a family Realtor…and now you might not! Call us! We are always accepting “applications” for new clients! With over 1000 happy customers…since 1989…you can be assured that we will take phenomenal care of you, your family, and your friends and coworkers, and all your real estate needs!

We just recorded a month in which our office exceeded company records with 104 sales!!! Call us at (949) 240-5892 to find out how we sold, sold, SOLD so many homes in what many despondent real estate agents and sellers are calling “the worst market ever!”

Get ahead of the crowd! Call us today to explore ALL of your many buying and selling options!
